Flottweg Three-Phase Decanter, Z4D-3/441, most recently used in a fruit juice operation. Drum inner diameter: 420 mm, drum inner length: 1245 mm, drum wall thickness: 10 mm. The medium to be separated is fed into the hollow central shaft of the decanter. The solids are collected against the drum wall by centrifugal force. A cylindrical-conical conveyor scroll transports the solids ring to the discharge ports, from where the solids are expelled into the solids housing. The two liquid phases separate according to their specific densities and form two liquid cylinders. The diameters of the liquid rings can be adjusted via the skimming disc and overflow weir. One phase is discharged without pressure, while the other is discharged under pressure via the skimming disc. The moisture content of the solids as well as the purity of the liquids can be regulated by:
- Variation of the phase separator and skimming diameters
- Decanter speed
- Scroll speed
