GBS Test Pulse rev3 Pulse Generator for Long-Term Insulation Testing

The Test Pulse setup is designed for long-term insulation testing of test objects with up to 6 nF capacitance.

Inverter for High-Voltage Test Transformer

· Internal sine wave generator: 50-200 Hz.
· Pulse-width modulation 16-24 kHz of the sine via full bridge.
· Converter voltage adjustable from 0-600V, Imax=2.6A, maximum power 1.3kW

Pulse Transformer – Control

· Controlled via full bridge
· Full bridge power supply adjustable 0-1000V, 1.3A max.
· Pulse current limitation 100A (shutdown threshold).
· Pulse width 20-120μs, standard 94μs, adjustable
· 2 selectable series inductances 150μH, 300μH, for adjusting pulse width and rise time depending on load capacitance and voltage.
· Pulse repetition frequency adjustable from 0.1 – 2.5 kHz.
· Polarity: Adjustable to positive, negative, or alternating depending on the polarity of the sine wave signal.
· Cosine-shaped pulse at transformer output

Pulse Transformer Cascade

· Output transformers in a 5-stage cascaded configuration.
· Total transformation ratio selectable via taps as 1:7.7, 1:10 or 1:15.
· Maximum output voltage 15kV at possible load capacitances of:* 6nF with 73μs pulse width at a repetition rate of 2.5kHz * 10nF with 103μs pulse width at a repetition rate of 1.25kHz
· Voltage divider 1:1000 in parallel.
· Overvoltage protection at approx. 20-23 kV via parallel spark gaps
· Thermistor for overtemperature detection in the first transformer stage.
· Ground-side current measurement socket 100 mV/A.

Breakdown Detection, Testing

· If the maximum bridge currents for the transformer controls or maximum currents of the bridge power supplies are exceeded, the high voltage is switched off.
· The device is equipped with a resettable hour counter to determine the testing duration.
