Horizon BQ-470

The Horizon BQ-470, manufactured in 2008 (serial number 318004), is a four-clamp perfect binder designed for professional book production. With a maximum book format of 320 x 320 mm and a binding thickness from 1 to 65 mm, this binder offers flexibility for a wide range of binding applications. Currently in operation at a print shop in Germany, the machine combines automation, precision, and reliability to ensure consistent results.

This binder features EVA hotmelt side gluing as well as a PUR adhesive module, enabling use of both EVA and PUR adhesives. The heating system is adjustable from 100 to 200 °C, with adhesive temperatures of 120 °C for EVA and up to 130 °C for PUR. The machine requires a 400 V power supply, consumes 4.8 kW for the binder and 4.4 kW for the melt unit, and is operated with a 6 bar compressed air supply.

Performance highlights include a maximum output of 1,000 cycles per hour, a warm-up time of approximately 50 minutes, and a cover feeder with suction drum offering a loading capacity of 150 mm. It supports cover sizes from 135 x 225 mm up to 320 x 660 mm and cover weights from 90 gsm to 300 gsm. Additional features include 4-way positive/negative scoring (optional 2-way scoring) and a robust construction, with a total machine weight of 2,170 kg plus 150 kg for the melt unit.
