Ceramic Pin Press-Fitting Device for Rotor Shafts

Operating Principle:

Ceramic pins are fed to an inspection station via a vibratory bowl feeder and pneumatic hose, where the position of any potential unilateral bore is checked by an optical sensor. Incorrectly oriented parts are ejected into a collection container by a pneumatic slide. Properly oriented pins are subsequently delivered to the separator of the press-fitting tool via another pneumatic hose.

The actual press-fitting process is also performed pneumatically, using a plunger guided by a rolling bearing. Initially, a manually adjustable pressure p1 ensures that the pin is not inserted into the shaft too easily. A second manually adjustable pressure p2 is then used to press the pin to its stop inside the rotor shaft. A disc spring package, preloaded to 5,000 N, prevents excessive force from being applied to the pin and shaft.

The rotor shaft must be manually inserted, removed, and clamped into the tool by an operator. This procedure is safeguarded by a light curtain.
