The Uniq series forms the solid foundation of our product range and encompasses all the features that have contributed to the Kündig edge sanding machine’s reputation on the market as a robust, versatile precision tool. At the heart of its extremely heavy-duty construction is the motor-driven oscillating sanding unit, which offers a maximum oscillation stroke of 90 mm and can be motor-tilted up to 45°. Up to four sanding stations allow for all common edge processing operations.

Ingenious Design – The Sanding Unit

The core component of all our edge sanders is the sanding unit itself. It incorporates a range of intelligent features. Unlike others, the sanding belt does not oscillate by tilting the belt rollers; instead, the entire sanding unit moves up and down. Both the oscillation stroke and oscillation range can be set conveniently at the push of a button. Thanks to the flexible adjustment and long oscillation travel, sanding belts can be utilized across their entire width without the hassle of resetting the worktable height. The oscillation mechanism is powered by a dedicated motor.

Tilting the sanding unit is also a simple process via a rotary switch and its own motor. The unit can be tilted between 90° and 45°. The well-conceived swivel mechanism ensures full oscillation at all times, making double-sided sanding possible—even simultaneously. The varied worktable heights at the front and rear sanding stations prevent the belt from being used at the same level on both sides. In addition, the combination of the swivel mechanism and different table heights keeps the gap between the sanding unit and worktable to a minimum at all tilt angles.

Changing the sanding belt is also quick and effortless, taking just seconds.

The Four Sanding Stations

1. Sanding Station: 'Veneer Side'
The front sanding station is designed for precise calibration of materials and functions like a jointer-planer. The infeed fence can be adjusted with a rotary handle for high-precision depth control. Importantly, the fence is never tilted—so the infeed fence, sanding pad, and outfeed fence remain parallel at all times, preventing rounding of workpieces. Fine adjustment of the sanding pad for abrasive compensation or zeroing between fences and pad is possible via a handwheel. The heavy-duty worktable on this side is fitted with sliding inserts.

2. Sanding Station: 'Solid Wood Side'
This station is ideal for sanding flat, angled, chamfered, or externally rounded workpieces. Here too, the entire sanding unit oscillates. The belt runs its entire width over a graphite-based, cooling surface. On the solid wood side, a mitre fence is also included.
