Root Reducer – New (in storage)

Consisting of:

1. Roller Conveyor with Tapered Rollers for Alignment

System Data:
Timber lengths: 2 m to 4.6 m (main length: 2.7 m), extendable up to 8 m (optional, extra charge)
Log diameter: 200 mm to 1,100 mm
Wood types: softwood or hardwood, max. individual log weight 2 tons
Throughput rate: up to 5 pieces/minute, including up to 2 pieces/minute with root reduction
Operation: single-shift operation

Description:
Tapered roller conveyor for round timber with housed bearings (nominal diameter: 60 mm);
External diameter of tapered rollers: 450 mm; drive chain: 1¼'' roller chain;
built-in, 4-arm, hydraulically operated lifter for transfer into the root reducer, steel housing slide bearings;
drive of the tapered roller conveyor via geared motor with gear and soft start;
integrated photoelectric sensors (2 units) for log positioning

2. Root Reducer

- 3 driven chain beds, drive chain: 1½'' roller chain with square drivers
- Drive via geared motor
- 2 support stands with non-driven rollers (roller bearings)
- hydraulically swiveling clamping unit with V-bed, clamps from above
- drive chain: 1½'' roller chain, drive via geared motor
- housed milling shaft with reversible, exchangeable cutter blocks (4 cutting edges per block), drive via three-phase motor (drive power: 75 kW; flexible tyre coupling)
- star-delta operation for the drive motor (energy-saving mode for idle operation; automatic switching during reduction
- milling shaft length: 1,200 mm, mounted on a pivot-mounted, adjustable drive cradle (hydraulic drive)
- 4-arm hydraulic lifter
- integrated hydraulic power pack (15 kW)
- built-in log thickness measurement for automatic calculation of milling times (control included in item 2), for log lengths under 3.5 m, the support position must be adjusted (reduced reduction length)
Reduction length for a log length of 2.7 m: 0.7 m; for log length of 3 m: 0.9 m

3. Control System
- Control cabinets in neutral version, equipped with control units for all drives of items 1 and 2
- Power supply: 3x400 VAC; Rittal control cabinet; motor contactors and relays from Siemens
- freely programmable control system Bernegger & Rainer
- control cabinets prewired and tested
- reserve spaces for approx. 5 drives
- circuit diagram for the system
- signal exchange via potential-free contacts
- emergency-stop system; incl. required sensors; manual operation possible

Control System Description:
- automatic reduction mode, for log lengths below 3.5 m, an adjustment of the support position (log alignment) is required (reduced reduction length)
- automatic log positioning via tapered roller conveyor, the reduction process must be manually activated (reduction preset)
