The gear tooth rounding is achieved by a combination of the cutter's reciprocating movement and the continuous rotation of the workpiece. The reciprocating motion of the cutter is generated by the rotation of a cam, which is shaped to produce either a radius or corner rounding. A set of 4 cams covers the module range from 1 to 16 inclusive. An adjustment device allows setting the module between the minimum and maximum values for each individual cam. Workpiece rotation is controlled by a three-stage gear, which forms the indexing system. The workpiece locking and rapid approach movement of the cutter to the workpiece are pneumatically controlled. The machine’s practicality and speed, the wide range of profiles available with the cams, and its ability to process internal gears make this a universal machine suitable for both small and large batch production.
