Skinetta ASK 450 Stretch-Banding Machine

Machine Application

The SKINETTA series stretch-banding machines are designed for wrapping individual products or multiple items tightly with polyethylene film. Unlike shrink-wrapping machines, the film is stretched tautly around the package before sealing. The primary advantage of this process is the reduced film consumption, up to 20% less material is needed compared to traditional methods.

A particular benefit of the patented SKINETTA tensioning system is its stepless, precise adjustability.

Sealing (welding) of the film is performed within a minimal space, resulting in a clean, narrow seal seam with very small overlaps. By adding a SKINETTAther or SKINETTAshrink heat tunnel and using a correspondingly wide film, any film excess projecting beyond the package can be shrunk around the sides. This further stabilizes the bundle and prevents individual items from slipping out, especially in grouped packs. Complete sealing of the bundle—by additional sealing, partial sealing, and side folding—is possible with supplemental equipment.

The SKINETTA stretch-banding machine series comprises 6 basic models for films with widths from 25 mm up to 200, 290, 440, 590, 790, and 1250 mm. To increase throughput, two- to four-lane systems are available in addition to single-lane machines. On the SK (semi-automatic) series, products are manually grouped on the machine table by an operator; film insertion and subsequent stretching/banding are triggered either by a foot switch or two-hand control. Full automation is later possible (except model SK 200). On the ASK (fully automatic) series, products are automatically fed, grouped, and stretch-banded by suitable add-on devices. A modular system for infeed, grouping, forming, and special devices—developed from over 20 years of experience—enables adaptation to a wide variety of customer requirements using proven standard modules.
