Thermoplastic Applicator
Area of Application
The thermoplastic applicator applies a thermoplastic polymer onto rectangular glass panes as part of a solar module production line. The polymer forms a seal with a second glass pane, which is applied in a subsequent processing step. Feeding, applying, and discharging of the panes are carried out on horizontally running belts/conveyors.
The thermoplastic applicator is a highly sophisticated machine that must meet many requirements with great precision. For this reason, you should only process primary materials (glass, sealant) that comply with the specifications on the following pages. This helps ensure high-quality and safe production.
Performance and Connection Data
- Maximum transport speed: 18 m/min
- Height of glass conveying surface: 1100 mm
- Height of the applied sealant bead: 0.5 to 1.2 mm
- Maximum width of the applied sealant bead: 12.0 mm

Thermoplastic polymers based on polyisobutylene (butyl) can be processed. The polymer must be flowable in the range of approx. 110°C to 130°C and have a defined viscosity curve. Use only those materials that have proven themselves in practice and are approved for your intended use by both the material manufacturers and Bystronic.
