Swirl chamber diesel engine, type EM4-20, 4-cylinder (inline), 6,024 cm³, water-cooled, unsynchronized 5-speed gearbox, maximum speed: 60 km/h.
The H3A is the successor model to the H3. It was presented to the public at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1949 and produced from mid-1950 until 1956 at the Zwickau VEB Kraftfahrzeugwerk HORCH, initially as a flatbed truck. The H3A was a completely new development, designed as a conventional bonneted truck with a diesel engine. The diesel engine was based on a VOMAG development. At the Leipzig Spring Fair, the H3A was introduced as a tractor unit with tank semi-trailer, and further variants included three-way tippers, livestock carriers, road tractors, tankers, as well as special bodies for the postal service and the Red Cross, and also as furniture vans.

Based on the H3A chassis, around 180 H3B cab-over buses were produced at the LOWA plant in Bautzen. The main areas of application were primarily in the civilian sector, but the H3A was also used by the People’s Police and, later, the NVA. Ex Dörr Spedition. Errors excepted!
