Face Milling - Single Part Process – Continuous Method:
- Workpiece and tool (usually Spiron) rotate simultaneously, all teeth are generated in a single pass.
- Cutter head has multiple cutter groups (not arranged in a circle)
- Tooth with parallel height
- Conical tooth top surface

Single Part Method:
- Workpiece is stationary and the cutting tool (usually Arcon) rotates and cuts a single tooth by plunging into the workpiece.
- Once a tooth is cut, the tool retracts, the workpiece indexes by one tooth width, and the next tooth is cut. This process repeats until all teeth are machined.
- Cutter head has all cutters arranged on a circular path.
- Conical tooth height
- Parallel tooth top surface

The C28 is capable of both, gear wheel and pinion machining.
For single part process, the C28 must be "prepared" – i.e., equipped with a direct measuring system + part gear brake on the workpiece axis + license file for executing the single part method.
