The Reitruder technology utilizes co-rotating twin screws. We have adapted this twin-screw technology for use in direct extrusion lines, primarily for inline compounding—thus consolidating several process steps into one.

At the same time, the direct extrusion process reduces energy costs compared to two-stage compounding: Without the intermediate solidification and remelting of the plastic, the Reitruder completes the cycle from raw to final product in a single production run.

Reitruder RZE 85
EXTRUSION: Among other new developments, the co-rotating twin-screw extruder Reitruder RZE 85 was the focal point of Reifenhäuser’s presentation at NPE. A differentiated concept with new design elements was developed. The screw geometry was adapted to new requirements, with a deeper channel depth and a newly designed feed zone. These changes alone improve feed when processing PET flakes or regrind and increase the volume for dosing fillers. This leads to significant advantages when processing lower-quality raw materials. Additionally, improved degassing efficiency even allows the use of material with a moisture content of up to 0.5 percent, minimizing pre-drying measures.
