WSM Stationary Screwdriving Unit Screwdriving Station
Assembly of components for car radios and navigation systems as well as for testing the same.
The assembly station is enclosed by a protective housing.
The service doors are equipped with monitoring switches with latching (interlocking) mechanisms.
The doors are locked during automatic operation and can only be opened after an automatic stop or in manual mode by pressing the 'doors' button on the control panel. When a door is open, automatic operation cannot be started.
Operating Sequence
The station is loaded with the pre-assembled module via the transfer belt.
Below are the work steps of the automatic station as a workpiece carrier (WT) passes through.
In normal operation, all 3 stations work in parallel.
- Positioning of the WT with the pre-assembled module at station 2.1

- Lowering of the carrier with the scanner and vision sensor
- Scanning of the 3 codes (front panel, front PCB, SD PCB), matching with the database
- Inspection of the correct locking of the FFC in the connector
- Raising the carrier and lowering the WT onto the belt
- Positioning of the WT with the pre-assembled module at station 2.2
- Positioning the screwdriver and screwing down the front PCB
- Lowering of the WT onto the belt
- Positioning of the WT with the pre-assembled module at station 2.3
- Lowering of the light protection cover and contacting, advancing the carrier with the test sensors from below
- Type-dependent testing of SD + CD slot lighting and push buttons
- Function test of the CD eject button
- Lowering of the WT onto the belt > continue
If any errors occur during testing, these are displayed on the screen and can be corrected if possible.
To do this, switch to manual mode and open the doors. After the repair and restarting the automatic mode, the WT is retested in the station.
If repair is not possible (e.g., screwdriving error), the WT is marked as NIO (Not In Order) in the control system and is not further processed.
Manual NIO marking and discharge is also possible.
